Reeder Family Plano | Originally a Quaker household from Pennsylvania, the Reeders immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1816 the place they lived for various a long time in a small farming community. It used to be in Canada that J. C. Reeder’s father, Daniel was once born, spent his childhood and married at the age of 22. Daniel and Elizabeth Reeder had 5 children; J. C. used to be fourth, born in 1862. After the premature loss of life of Elizabeth, Daniel moved his household to the United States and settled in Missaukee County, in Michigan in 1868.

In 1872, Daniel remarried and commenced a 2nd household at the Reeder homestead. J. C. left domestic at the age of 17 for Washington State, the place he labored in the logging camps of the Pacific Northwest. It was once in Washington that he made his first buy of land in California, contracting the acquisition of ten acres of citrus land in Redlands.

The deal fell through, however J. C. stayed in Southern California and labored till he had saved adequate cash to make every other land purchase, this time in San Diego County. The San Diego ranch was once now not worthwhile so J. C. took up work as a land surveyor to make ends meat. In 1894 J. C. married Lulu Belle Sharp, a Pomona resident; in 1895 their first son used to be born.

In October 1900 J. C. Reeder bought 5 acres of land in San Bernardino County, between the developing city of Pomona and Ontario. The property was once bordered by way of Holt Avenue to the north and the railroad tracks to the south. The mailing tackle of the Reeder Ranch in the early years used to be Rural Route 1, West Ontario. At the time of purchase, the property seems to have been in most cases undeveloped without for a barn. In 1901, a residence used to be moved to the property and by using 1903 J. C. had stuffed the land with Washington Navel Orange trees. In 1905 J. C. bought the adjoining 5 acres to the west, planting lots of extra orange trees.
